Terms of Service
Last modified: September 7, 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Digital Lighthouse Designs, LLC, a Michigan limited liability company (“Directee”, “we”, “us”), covering the Directee marketing site (directee.app) and the Directee application (my.directee.app). By creating an account or using Directee, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use Directee.
What Directee is
Directee is a practice-management web application for spiritual directors. It gives you one place to keep the people you accompany — your directees — along with session notes, appointments, invoices and payments, documents, tasks, and communications. It is a tool for your practice. It is not a counseling, medical, legal, or financial service, and we do not provide spiritual direction, clinical care, or professional advice of any kind.
Your account
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract to create an account. Accounts are for one director: provide accurate information, keep your password confidential, and do not let anyone else sign in as you. You are responsible for everything that happens under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe it has been used without your permission.
Your directees and your responsibilities
The people you record in Directee are not our users, and we have no direct relationship with them. You decide what to record about them and you are responsible for that information. In particular, you are responsible for:
- having whatever consent or permission your professional standards, agreements, and local law require before entering someone’s information into Directee;
- the accuracy of what you record and the confidentiality you have promised the people you accompany;
- complying with the laws and professional obligations that apply to your own practice, including any that govern records, confidentiality, or mandatory reporting.
We store and process the information you enter only in order to provide the service to you. How we handle it is described in our Privacy Policy.
Plans, trial, and billing
- Free tier. You can use Directee at no cost for up to five directees.
- Paid tiers. Standard, Plus, and Unlimited are billed monthly or yearly. Current prices are shown on our pricing page.
- Free trial. Paid features come with a 28-day free trial. Unless you cancel before it ends, the plan you selected begins and the first charge is made.
- Renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically for successive terms — monthly or yearly, matching what you chose — until you cancel.
- Cancellation. You may cancel at any time from your account. Cancelling stops the next renewal; your paid access continues to the end of the period you have already paid for, and is not prorated.
Payments are processed by Stripe, and by subscribing you authorize us to charge your payment method through Stripe for the plan you selected, including applicable taxes. We do not receive or store card numbers. If a payment fails, we may retry it and may suspend or downgrade paid features until the balance is settled.
We may change prices. If we change the price of your plan, we will give you notice before it takes effect on your next renewal, and you may cancel before then if you do not want to continue.
Refunds
Fees are generally non-refundable, and we do not refund partial periods after a cancellation. The free trial is there so you can decide before you pay. That said, we would rather be fair than technically correct: if something went wrong, or you were charged in a way you did not expect, contact us and we will look at it and make it right where it is warranted.
Connected services
Directee works with services operated by other companies. If you connect Cal.com for scheduling, or your own Stripe account to invoice your directees, your use of those services is governed by their terms and privacy policies, directly between you and them. We are not responsible for a third-party service’s availability, accuracy, or acts, and a change on their side may affect what Directee can do.
AI features
Directee can send session notes to OpenAI to produce a summary or sentiment indicator, and can send bank statements or spreadsheets you upload for expense tracking to Anthropic to parse the transactions. These features are optional; if you do not use them, none of your content is sent for AI processing. Voicemails left on our support line are transcribed by Deepgram so our team can read them.
AI output is generated automatically and can be incomplete, wrong, or misleading. Treat it as a draft, never as a record of what was said or as any kind of assessment of a person. You remain responsible for reviewing anything you rely on or keep. Because direction notes are so sensitive, consider what the people you accompany would expect before turning these features on their records. See our Privacy Policy for how the providers handle content.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use Directee for any unlawful purpose, or to store or send unlawful, harassing, or infringing material;
- attempt to access another account or any data that is not yours, or probe, scan, or interfere with the security of the service;
- disrupt the service, overload it, or use automated means to scrape it;
- reverse engineer, copy, or resell the service, or use it to build a competing product;
- share your account with other practitioners in order to avoid paying for their own.
Not for emergencies
Directee is not an emergency service. It is not monitored around the clock and must never be relied on to summon help. If someone is in a medical or safety emergency, call 911. If someone is in crisis, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
Your content
The notes, documents, and records you put into Directee remain yours. You grant us only the limited permission we need to host, store, back up, transmit, and display that content in order to operate the service for you, and to send it to the providers described above when you use a feature that requires it. We claim no ownership of it and will not use it to train our own models or to market to anyone.
The Directee software, design, name, and logo are ours and are protected by intellectual property law. These terms grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service while your account is in good standing — nothing more.
Export and deletion
You may ask us to export a copy of your account data, or to delete your account and its data, by contacting support. After deletion, copies may remain in backups for a limited period before those backups expire. Please export anything you want to keep before you ask us to delete an account.
Availability and changes
We work to keep Directee available and dependable, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. We may need to take it down for maintenance, and we may add, change, or discontinue features. If we discontinue something you depend on, or the service as a whole, we will give you reasonable notice and an opportunity to export your data.
Suspension and termination
You may stop using Directee and close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these terms, that creates a legal or security risk, or that has an unpaid balance — with notice where it is practical to give it. On termination, your right to use the service ends; the sections of these terms that by their nature should survive will survive.
Disclaimers
Directee is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any output it produces will be accurate. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Directee and Digital Lighthouse Designs, LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or loss of goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service will not exceed the greater of one hundred U.S. dollars or the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Digital Lighthouse Designs, LLC from claims, damages, and reasonable expenses arising out of your use of Directee, the information you enter into it, or your breach of these terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these terms or the service will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Washtenaw County, Michigan, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we make a material change, we will post the revised terms here and update the date at the top of the page. Your continued use of Directee after a change takes effect means you accept the revised terms.
